Shaping a Better Tomorrow
Supporting our local community is one small way we can help to shape a better tomorrow. We recently sponsored Waitaha School to attend the Selwyn Awards Gala Dinner. The Selwyn Awards recognise the outstanding work of businesses, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals in the Selwyn district. The Gala Dinner is a celebration of local champions and is an opportunity for the community to come together to recognise the achievements of the 104 Selwyn businesses, groups and individuals awarded on the night.
Our sponsorship of the school enabled their attendance at the event where they won Gold in the Diversity and Inclusion in Business Award and the overall People’s Choice Award.
Waitaha School is a specialist school for students with special needs aged 5 – 21 years. The teaching ensures equity of access for all people in the community with barriers to access and inclusion. The school strongly believes their role is to prepare their young people for their community whilst at the same time preparing the community for their young people.
They fill the gap between understanding and acceptance to diversity by sharing their knowledge, facilities, and energy with the local community. The school strongly believes all young people have something to offer their community and there are positive possibilities for all learners. Through the actions of the young people and staff at Waitaha School, diversity is celebrated, and all skills, talents, and superpowers are maximised.
The Selwyn Awards Diversity and Inclusion with Business Award recognises the contribution the school has made to the local community in championing those who face barriers to learning and inclusion.
The People’s Choice Award received a record number of votes with over 7,00 votes cast in the 2021 awards. We are so proud of our sponsorship of Waitaha School and congratulate them on their achievements. The School’s achievements at the Awards are a public recognition of their role in breaking down barriers to inclusion and acceptance.
